Chill Gifts: For the Hygge Enthusiast

by Susie Benitez

The holidays are finally here and you know what that means: Food, family, friends, fun, and of course, gifts. (There’s no shame if that’s your favorite part of it all!) We know that every person in your life deserves something special, so we’re here to make sure they get the best gift possible. We’re combing through the best sales and stores (basically doing a lot of the hard work for you) so all you have to do is wrap it up and send it on its way. Oh, and if something on these lists seems a little more perfect for you than as a gift for someone else, well, we don’t see any harm in that, right? A gift to yourself definitely counts, especially during this time of year. It’s all good holiday fun! Check out our Get Well gift guide here, our Get Ready gift guide here, and our Get Lost gift guide here, and our Get Physical Gift Guide here!

Can you believe it’s time for our last CHILL GIFTS of the season?! We’re ending with a bang and focusing on our favorite place in the world… the home (we promise Chillhouse, is our second fave!). This guide is all about bringing a whole lot of hygge into the lives of the ones you love. And be real, you might be spending a lot of time there too, right? So if you love that apron, have no fear, you’ll prooobably get a chance to use it.  There’s something for every size and shape home, from the biggest home on the cul-de-sac to the tiniest apartment in NYC, because if there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that hygge knows no bounds.

  • One Year's Subscription to Cherry Bombe Magazine
    Need This Now| $38

"Cherry Bombe is a biannual indie magazine that celebrates women and food." Need we say more? Give the gift of original features, profiles, artwork, and tons and tons of recipes this Christmas. Food is a wonderful way to bring people together (and into your home!). So cozy up with a copy of Cherry Bombe. And of course, supporting print publications is always a huge plus.

  • Bodum Coffee Press by Madewell
    Need This Now| $15

A gift that saves money is one I will never grow tired of receiving. So this colorful mini french press (instead of another Starbucks gift card) is basically like the gift that keeps on giving. This glass and stainless steel makes one 8oz cup (the perfect little solo activity) and let's you spend just a little more time in your favorite place ever — your house, duh!

  • Bordeaux Classic Apron by hedley & bennett
    Need This Now| $85

Your home is an investment, so the products you use in your home should be too, right? That's exactly what this apron is. Made from super durable (and luxe) chino twill, and antique brass hardware, this adjustable apron is meant to last — and look great while doing so. Our favorite is this warm Bordeaux (we love food and wine, alright?) but there are plenty of colors to choose from here. And did we mention there's a pocket specific for your iPhone? Gotta love it.

  • Embroidered Silk Queen Pillowcase - White by Slip
    Need This Now| $85

We can see how you might be like, "what can a silk pillowcase do for me?" but in this case, it's more like what can't a silk pillowcase do for you. They're anti-bedhead, anti-sleep crease, and even anti-aging. All of this is due to the fact that they reduce friction by almost 50 percent, resulting in so much less of that negative stuff while you're sleeping. You can thank the pure mulberry silk that they use in their pillowcases (which the highest grade of the natural fiber, btw) for your newly smooth and silky #IWokeUpLikeThis look.

And if you're all in on silk, you can also try Slip's silky scrunchies here.

  • Brass Wave Bookmark by Poketo
    Need This Now| $16

This solid brass bookmark makes a great accessory to your super packed day of lying on the couch and reading. No more dog-eared pages and ticket stub bookmarks necessary, it's time to upgrade.

  • Prism Oracle Card Deck by Iris Eyris
    Need This Now| $45

There's always time for an at-home reading. This oracle deck focuses specifically on the relationship between color, emotion, and energy. It is intended to "break down inner thoughts and emotions," and have a really, really good time while doing so. (Plus, it's a great way to entice your friends to head to your house this time.) And if you’re looking for a little extra guidance in your day from some familiar faces, try the limited edition Rock and Roll Oracle deck. Who doesn’t love some sage wisdom from none other than David Bowie?

  • Taking care of your mouth should be a top priority, so why not make it feel worth it? Goby does. Soft bristles provide a deep yet gentle clean, 30-second timers let you know when it's time to switch it up, and the USB charger is so easy and longlasting. (Like seriously, two charges a month!) If you subscribe to their brush head program, you not only get the joy of a fresh brush head every one, two, or three months, but you save serious $$$ in the long-run, too, all while being sustainable and stylish.

You can also feel good knowing that a percentage of all Goby sales go to NYU College of Dentistry's Global Student Outreach Program to help provide dental services to people around the world as well as right here at home.

  • Hudson Pipe - Amber by Laundry Day
    Need This Now| C$80

A pipe that also basically functions as art sounds like the perfect mix if you ask us. The hand-blown glass piece lets you relax as you watch the smoke fill the chamber while also letting it cool before it hits your lips. When we say we've never seen a pipe quite like it, we're serious. This gift is truly one-of-a-kind. See more colors here (but be warned: you might end up with more than one.)

  • County Fair by Field Notes
    Need This Now| $12.95

I promise you, these are some of the cutest little notebooks you can own (I've amassed at least 15 over the years, many of which are still unused). They're the perfect stocking stuffer for both the homebody and the adventurer — really anyone who likes to jot down ideas, notes, doodles, and just about anything you can think of. The 48-page Field Notes 3-pack are meticulously designed and come in many colors, most of which are released quarterly, but the County Fair edition was so popular when it came out almost 10 years ago that it became a regular in the lineup and we can see why. Could be because they have one for every state (and Puerto Rico!). Cue the home (state) vibes!

Happy Holidays, chill fam!
