Most of us, aside from essential workers, are working from home now and this is our new normal. For many of us, we have found a new routine and we like it, for others… not so much. Whether you’re struggling to get organized and motivated to work at home or you just want to elevate your WFH life, we got you! Here’s 5 Gadgets that will help your work from home life not feel so hectic.
A Home For Your Bits and Bobs
I recently just picked up this utility cart from Ikea to organize my office space living room even more. I was inspired by a more minimal approach and want to have a space that visually appeals to me while also creating a home for every single pen and notebook. I also used these toothbrush holders to house all my pens, highlighters, and random tall objects. Another helpful tip is to make sure, when re-stocking on planners and notebooks, find some that match! My favorite!? Muji! Creating a cohesive space for all my work supplies has helped me feel less overwhelmed and more inspired to work!
The Routine Booster We All Need
This may require trial and error! I’m currently still working through some kinks myself, but a routine that is consistent and efficient can be so helpful in eliminating stress from our work lives. Very Well Mind said in their article on routines in stressful times (hello – the past year), “Implementing a structure to your day can give you a sense of control. It can also improve your focus, organization, and productivity.” I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been trying out a few different routine apps to track my habits and help me find my perfect flow. I use Notion to create daily to-do lists, and Streaks to keep track of daily habits like waking up early and completing my meditation. I’ve seen a huge difference and plan on sticking with it!
Back, Back, Back it Up!
I can’t tell you how important it is to own at least one external harddrive and back up all your work to it. In the event you lose your work, or need to back track something during a crisis with your team, an external hard drive will be your best friend. Of course we have Slack, and Gmail, and Google Docs, but something that’s 100% offline, all yours, for your eyes only – I think that’s what we would call, *chef’s kisses.* My external hard drive has saved my behind so many times and it’s also a great place to store my personal photos and videos – freeing up space on my phone and laptop! This one is my favorite, but there are so many on the market that get the job done!
Coffee In The Morning
Okay hear me out, a coffee mug warmer! This may not seem all together necessary, but let me tell you first hand how it’s changed my mornings, especially on the days I’m not up for another zoom meeting. I have this one I got as a gift, but there’s even cute ones like this on Urban Outfitters. Not only does it save energy from constantly re-heating your coffee in the microwave, but it’s also a great way to enjoy your coffee longer. You can use this for any drink so if coffee is not your thing, it’s great for tea as well! It’s the small things in life that really bring us joy!
Don’t Get It Twisted
Cable Organizers for the win! This may seem like another one of those smaller gadgets you don’t really need, but if you’re the type of person who prefers a clean and organized space in order to have a frantic-free mind, this will help so much. I personally hate seeing a ton of wires twisted and laying together on the floor. I chuck it up to my OCD, but this has helped so much with the overall care and maintenance of my wires. My wire heads are less likely to fray and die out overtime, and it’s easy to find the wire I need in case I need to pack it away and take it to go! I like this one on Amazon, but there are so many out there that are great too!

Whether you grab all of these gadgets or just one, they are sure to help your work weeks feel less chaotic. It’s a new year and although we’re still inside taking Zoom calls in our PJ’s and watching the Queen’s Gambit in the background, it’s a new time to get organized, and find a better flow! You deserve it and you’ve most definitely earned it! Cheers!
