Packing the perfect beach bag is essential to surviving this year’s heat apocalypse. In addition to incorporating go-to items like a towel, sunglasses, and (duh) flippy floppies, throwing in a few heat-protectant items is imperative to keep you cool as a cucumber and baked-free from the sun—and one of the best ways to do just that is by bringing a sunscreen that will shield you from a nasty burn and nourish your skin all at the same time.
So to help us pack the perfect beach bag, we partnered with Supergoop! and a few of our favorite influencer friends from NYC to let us know the two must-have items they always bring to the beach with them. Scroll below to see all the beauty and wellness products that will make your beach day easy and chill.
Sarah Levey
Sarah Levey the founder of Y7, believes hydration is key when it comes to hanging at the beach. Her trick to keeping her water from boiling under the hot summer sun? “Swell bottles are absolutely perfect the summer—they have an unreal ability to keep any beverage cold (even in a hot Y7 Studio room).”
But when it comes to achieving a dewy look, a sunscreen like Supergoop! Sun-Defying Sunscreen Oil with Meadowfoam is the way to go. “[This] is one of my newest obsessions for sunscreen. It’s super light for an oil, has SPF protection, and gives your skin a gorgeous glowy look.”
Cheyenne Adler
When it comes to sunscreen, Cheyenne Adler founder and creator of With Cheyenne, is pretty much obsessed with anything Supergoop!. While she can throw any of their products into her beach bag, the Glow Stick takes the cake. “I’m pretty much obsessed with anything Supergoop!, but especially the Glow Stick because there’s honestly nothing I love more than a multi-purpose product! You can throw the Glow Stick into your bag and touch up both your highlight and sunscreen at the same time—which in this heat, is all. The. Damn. Time.”
The Ouai Hair Oil does double-duty for Alder. Not only does she prep her waves with it, but she also includes it in her beach bag as a perfume to refresh after a sweaty day at the beach. “You’ll rarely find me going anywhere without my OUAI Hair Oil—I use it in the morning on my wet hair and throughout the day to touch up any frizzy curls! It smells amazing so if you’re low on perfume, add a drop or two behind the ears or on your wrist and voila! It also doubles as a great summer scent.”
The Chill Times Team
While it’s an absolute must to have sunscreen and water included in your beach bag, you may want to pack body wipes to keep your bod feelin’ fresh. “Because team Chill Times collectively can get a little sweaty at the beach, these Come Clean wipes from Consonant are a must when you want to refresh while laying out on the beach. They’re unscented, hydrating and 100 percent natural. So you don’t want to worry about drying your skin out when you want a quick refresh.”
If you’re thinking of taking a dip in the big blue ocean, a drink float is a must-pack accessory so it can hold your canned rosé water while you’re in the water so you can live your best life. “This one from Bando, in particular, brings party vibes to your beach adventure. The pack comes with two, which is perfect to share with your beach buddy, so you both can chill all day long.”
Katie Sturino
Somethings just make sense, especially when it comes to keeping cool while looking cool. Thankfully, Katie Sturino, founder and creator of The 12ish Style and Megababe, knows what’s up by making sure to always pack her ice cream fan into every beach bag (or fanny pack) to help her survive the summer heat. “Why do I love the ice cream fan? It’s a fan. In the shape of an ice cream cone. Keeping cool and ice cream are two things I hold near and dear.”
The other product she packs? Her Megababe Thigh Rescue is clearly a no-brainer. “[It’s] literally [a] necessity for me in the summer because I cannot wear shorts, skirts or dresses without [using] it. Before [I had it], I used to wear little biker shorts under dresses but [that was] a recipe for a swampy situation. I am so proud of the Megababe Thigh Rescue! It’s a game changer.”
Cyndi Ramirez-Fulton
Our very own, Cyndi Ramirez-Fulton needs as much sunscreen as humanly possible in her beach bag. Because her job (ahem, Chillhouse and The Chill Times) takes her across the world, she’s alway prepared to protect her skin while she’s on-the-go and on the beach. “I’m one of those super sweaty beach people and the most important beach essentials for me are the pieces that’ll keep me refreshed and protected. That’s what Supergoop!’s setting mist does for my face!”
“I’m [also] obsessed with this antioxidant-infused sunscreen mist. It’s cooling and the easiest body applicator of any of their products. For me, I need convenience and I never want to feel like applying sunscreen is a chore. I’m hooked.”
Dria Murphy
Staying on top of your health is vital when you’re planning on being at the beach for the majority of summer. Dria Murphy, the founder of Alise Collective, packs organic supplements in her beach bag to make sure her bod—no matter where she is—is in tip-top shape. “I love Well Told Health’s Energy Boosters for being the only vegan and organic supplements around. I feel great knowing that I’m only putting all organic ingredients in my body, nothing else.”
While we’re always down to strut a no-makeup look at the beach, we love that Murphy brings a multi-purpose beauty product to give her lips and cheeks a little life. “Tata Harper’s Lip Tint is the perfect on-the-go product for when [I’m at the beach], giving some added color to lips and cheeks.”
