Influencers Who Are Using Their Voice Positively Right Now

by Hannah Smith

There’s been a lot of talk as to what the future of influencers will look like when we finally come out the other side of this pandemic. While some predict influencers will be no more, some thing their role will simply change. In fact, some have already pivoted to creating heart-warming and helpful content during this time, whether it be providing relief or full blown facts. We rounded up some of our favorite influencers who are using their voice in a positive way right now – take a peek below.

@halemur

Editor and writer most notoriously known for her work with Man Repeller, Haley, has always come across transparent and real on Instagram, and this crisis proves no different. In fact, not only has she continued to jot out heartfelt captions, but she’s taken this time to create a newsletter, Maybe Baby. It’s an extremely personal newsletter, where she reflects on past pieces, shares some of her good reads, and laughs at personal anecdotes to name a few. Without a doubt, her words and thoughts have served as a light for many and we wanted to share it with you. While Maybe Baby is technically free, we always recommend donating to Haley’s Patreon!

@trinitymuzon

Trinity is a health and wellness advocate, the founder of Golde, and someone I personally look up to a lot. Both Golde and Trinity have gone out of their way to create a sense of community during this time: Golde invited the community to bake Matcha cake together, Trinity regularly shares approachable and easy cooking tips, and she even took it upon herself to host a live with her financial advisor to share tips with other small businesses and business owners. If anything, Trinity feels like a familiar and friendly face, and one that I welcome on my feed every day.

@chrisellelim

Chriselle is new to my following roster but she’s also quickly become a favorite. While I’m here for her skincare, fashion, and momtrepreneur inspiration, she’s also been putting in work to be a positive face during this crisis. Chriselle owns @bumoparent, which initially wasn’t set to launch until the summer of 2020, but she’s making moves anyway. Each Friday morning, they upload educational videos, activity kits, and worksheets designed to keep kids aged 1-6 occupied. That means if you’re struggling to balance working from home with your kids, Chriselle is here to help. She’s also advocated for Baby2Baby, a service that provides children living in poverty with basic, everyday needs!

@ihartericka

Ericka Hart has always used her platform to advocate for the less fortunate, and surprise, surprise, there’s no difference now.  Ericka has started conversations around the ways in which Coronavirus has disproportionately impacted people of color, disabled people, undocumented people, and queer and trans folks to name a few. Not only has she shed light on the issue and talked about with zero frills, but she’s opened up her comments to allow people who are struggling to leave their Venmo, so you can directly help a community member in need right now. Following Ericka is a form of social education, if you ask me, and it’s one we can all use right now.

@piabaroncini

Creative Director of LPA, Pia Baroncini is a joy to see on my feed every day. Although Cooking with the Baroncini’s began well before quarantine, these IGTV videos have acted a serious pick-me-up whether I’m looking for cooking inspiration or if I’m just craving cute human interaction (watching her and her husband cook together is a form of self-care I didn’t know existed?). If the cooking doesn’t grab you, let her passion for animals! As shelters lose volunteers and begin to close, it’s becoming important to either adopt or foster a furry friend so they have somewhere safe to go. Pia has been posting direct posts to little pups in need regularly, so if you haven’t thought about need a dog yet, now’s the time!

@vbiancav

Bianca has always been open about her approach to wellness and food, but her message is more applicable now than ever. She’s been posting on her feed far less frequently, stating it feels a little funky to do so now and we can’t blame her. To each her own, right now! But she has become more active on stories, always ready to talk nutrition to ensure her angels are getting all the fruits and veggies needed to get through this time. You can get up nutrition calls with her on a donation basis, too, so if you have any questions on what you should be eating or how to make sure you’re getting enough vitamins and minerals, connect with her!

@evaalt

For many, Eva’s online presence has  lways created a sense of calm and happiness, and this whole being-stuck-inside thing hasn’t waivered her positive spirit at all. In fact, Eva has taken her ballet class online, and now you can follow along for a beginner ballet barre every Wednesday and Friday. Her pure optimism is enough to put you in a better mood, but offering a free form of exercise and sense of community during an otherwise lonely time has been a saving grace for many.

@lailacooks

While we’re all home, we definitely need a little more cooking inspo, but we also need those recipes to be easy and feel non-restricting. Of course, that’s where Laila comes in. Whether it’s sharing a ridiculously simply hummus recipe or delicious cabbage rolls, the food always feels accissble and doable. Recipes aside, Laila’s way of speaking is incredibly welcoming and makes you feel as if you’ve known her for a while (Just see her rice pudding caption, above!).
