In case you missed it, we teamed up with Ketel One Botanical to host a weekly Spritz Social, where you can enjoy a quick workout followed by a fresh-tasting Botanical Spritz to top off your day, all right on IG Live. If you need even more reason to indulge in this moment for yourself, keep in mind that Ketel One Botanical and Diageo will donate $1 up to $1 million for every comment made using the hashtag #TipsFromHome with #DiageoDonation. This is part of Ketel One Botanical’s initiative to support out of work bartenders by giving directly to charities such as USBG Bartender Emergency Assistance Program – as we all know, bartenders are vastly unemployed during this time, so if you’re enjoying a Botanic Spritz along with us, we implore you to send some love to your local bartender simply by commenting.
This week kicked off the series with a 15 minute workout led by Katie Dunlop and Elizabeth Endres from @sweatsandthecity. We worked our glutes, our abs, and in no time, it seemed everyone had gotten in the perfect sweat. Once our butts were kicked, we topped the evening off with a little Botanic Spritz. Elizabeth and Katie chatted about how nice it is to have a nice varietal of light, refreshing cocktail options without loading up on sugar. While Katie opted for the cucumber mint varietal, Elizabeth went right for grapefruit & rose. She admitted to being obsessed with grapefruit while at-home and trying to squeeze (no pun intended) them into her daily routine. To sip along with Elizabeth, see the Grapefruit & Rose Spritz below.
Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit & Rose Spritz
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit & Rose
- 3 oz Club Soda
- Garnish of Fresh Fruit or Herbs
Method:
- Combine Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit & Rose varietal with soda in a wine glass over ice
- Garnish with your choice of fresh fruit or herbs – we recommend a grapefruit slice!
Katie, admittedly, has been doing lots of at-home workouts to keep active in quarantine. But in order to stay motivated, she loves an outdoor run or walk and has incorporated a weekly hike (she lives in Orange County with tons of options) into her routine to ensure she gets outside enough. Elizabeth, on the other hand, is based in New York City, so her walks look a little different. Nonetheless, she attributes these moments outside to being a welcome treat for her mental health.
When it comes to keeping motivated to be sure you’re doing something daily, Katie recommends to rip off the band aid and do it – don’t overthink, just do something and you’ll feel better as more endorphins move through the body. Elizabeth notes this is not to say you don’t need your rest days and that balance is key in a situation like this. They both spoke to how virtual hangouts have been a saving grace to keep in touch with friends and to keep their social life alive at this time.
