When I was a kid, the supportive sneakers my mom tried to force on me were, in my strong-headed opinion, incredibly ugly. I couldn’t stand the way they looked and I would have much rather stomped around in rubber flip-flops. But now that I’m older and my body isn’t quite as resilient, I’ve come to learn that I really do love a good, supportive shoe. Thankfully, though, they’re not quite as ugly as they used to be. Keep scrolling for some of the most supportive, yet trendy sneakers to keep your health on point without sacrificing your style.
Stella McCartney x Adidas Ultra Boost
The Adidas Ultra Boost in and of itself is an insanely comfortable shoe that offers tons of comfort and support. The Ultra Boost sole bounces back immediately thanks to thermoplastic polyurethane, aka TPU, aka what makes the soul so damn comfy. The added design touches of Stella McCartney give the sneaker a huge fashionable boost, making them perfect to wear when you need a dose of serious comfort.
FILA Disruptor II
The ultimate dad shoe, aka the FILA Disruptor II, was originally intended to provide the most arch support known to man — get why it’s so chunky now? While some don’t care for the paternal nature of the sneaker, I have to say, the arch really is unlike any other. And if you’re confused as to why you should care about arch support, be informed that good arch supports lessen foot pain and helps provide balance. If you find you’ve been stumbling, this shoe might give you the support you need.
Nike Air Max Zero
The Nike Air Max Zero is an extremely sleek shoe that doesn’t even look like a typical, “orthopedic-resembling” sneaker. Instead, the comfort is lodged in Nike’s specialized Max Air heel unit, which is meant to provide comfort and cushioning. The best part is that these come in tons of different colors, so you can really get personal with your choice.
Rebook Classic Leather
The Reebok classic leather is a great sneaker to turn to for literally anything because not only is it comfortable, but it comes in a ton of colors. From pink leather to white suede to a special crackle leather, these sneakers can easily be woven into any wardrobe. But back to the comfort—these classic silhouettes offer a great deal of arch support and a sleek design to allow for increased mobility of the foot and ankle. It’s great for those who stay on their feet for long periods of time, or really for anyone looking to add some style to their comfort.
Nike Outburst
The Nike Outburst OG is a great shoe if you’re looking for one with a vintage feel with maximum comfort. The sleek designer can easily be paired with leggings, a skirt, or even some trousers (my go-to!), making them incredibly versatile. The plush mesh featured on the shoe allows for breathability, which is incredibly important if you’re looking to keep your feet cool. Paired with a cushioned sole, the Outburst OG provides a dose of comfort and durability, combined.
