Back in March, UNIQLO — our go-to sustainable store for everything stylish — partnered with Finnish fashion design brand Marimekko to create a limited-edition collection that mixes the fashion house’s iconic playful prints with the Japanese retailer’s well-known simplistic silhouettes. The capsule collection — which can now be found online and in stores — comprises of nine items that incorporate six different print designs inspired by nature and urban lifestyle. While this collection was created to help enhance daily living, our Chillhouse fam join forces with this collab to complement Marimekko’s Maija Louekari’s designs through custom nail art that was inspired by the collection at UNIQLO’s 5th Avenue global flagship store for one full day.
The all-day, in-store event consisted of customers, bloggers, and fashion editors shopping the collection. Nail technicians lined the 3rd floor of the store as customers, who spent $100 or more, including one item from the collection, got to choose from three complimentary custom Chillhouse manicures. Marimekko x UNIQLO-inspired cake by Chef Stephanie Nass and cookies made an attendance while bloggers like @ColorMeCourtney and @lexiconofstyle walked the floor to show off how they styled the pieces. Plus, even our own Cyndi Ramirez-Fulton made an appearance to shop and get a Marimekko x UNIQLO original mani.
