I personally consider this generation to be constantly conscious, I mean we know what body wash to use post-spin, and which moisturizer to dab after Bikram, so it was only a matter of time before we scoured the web for summer-friendly undies. No matter how sensitive a topic, though, it’s important to note that the hygiene aspect of sweating down there needs to be talked about more. This phenomenon of moisture-managing underwear has recently been brought to my attention after a non-planned trip to Adidas. Suffice to say, a quick browse through the sports bra section and I found myself holding a pack of sweat-wicking underwear, and looking around with a face that would only be described as, “does anyone else know these are here? Why didn’t anyone tell me these existed? Do my friends and family hate me? Do they even know?” Er, yeah, amazement.
Without going into the details of my epiphany, literally, I think that we could all benefit from knowing a bit more about this specialty fabric and why these are the only panties you need this summer.
- You’ll want to get a pair that is pretty much seamless, why? Because the less a seam is a seam, the less friction it will cause during activity, and the less you will chafe.
- Secondly, look for the phrase, “moisture wicking” on the pack, this means that the fabric is made up of fibers that will allow breathability and air circulation.
- One other piece of advice is to buy these particular undies in a size bigger, not too big, but slightly larger than your regular tight underwear. (Nothing good about sticker-like panties in 120 degrees.)
See below for a roundup of my top sweat-friendly underwear which will happily take you and your who-ha from yoga to work and everything in between.
